DNA Lab Field Trip

This past monday the middle school had the opportunity to go on a field trip to the Cold Harbor Springs DNA Laboratory for a full day of exciting hands-on experiments.  The students learned about DNA fingerprinting, DNA and forensics and extracting DNA.

Below is just a small sample of what the students got to do.  Using Gel Electrolysis the students compared different DNA's to see how they matched up.

Baccalaureate Dinner Info

Baccalaureate Dinner!                                                                                                 Graduating students with their parents and their Seventh Grade  classmates will attend the 2010 Baccalaureate Dinner in less than  two weeks. (Eighth Grade students have been given invitations  for parents.) Who attends?  Although Commencement is open to all, the Baccalaureate  Dinner is a more intimate gathering. Invitations are given to graduating 8th graders, parents of 8th grade students (but  not siblings or others), 7th grade classmates, and some teachers. Where? Harborside Club at Harborside Financial Center 154 Plaza III, Jersey City, New Jersey When? Monday, June 14th @ 6:30 PM   What to wear? Please keep in mind that, at these events, we do dress up  a bit. Boys do not have to wear jackets or ties, but they  might. Girls might choose to wear dresses or skirts - but in  full recognition of dress code (no spaghetti straps no very  short skirts, for example). The idea is also NOT to be  extravagant or to overstretch family budgets, but to remember  only that it is, indeed, a relatively special event.  What is the cost? The cost is $30 per person, but there is no cost to graduating  8th grade students. Checks may be written to Mustard Seed  School to cover one or two settings. RSVP - - to Gloria Miltner in the school office by Monday, June 7th, so  that we might have an accurate count of attendants.

High School Night

On June 7th we will hold our annual High School Night.   This is the beginning of the high school application process and attendance by 7th grade parents is mandatory.

Thank You for Your Support

Yesterday the Upper School held our 2010 Spring Concert.  On behalf of the staff I would like to extend our appreciation for all the parents who were able to help out.  Also the students were amazing and pictures from the concert should be on the school website shortly.

Spring Concert and High School Night

The Upper School Spring Concert is next week!  If you haven't marked your calendar do so now, it will be held at St. Josephs at 7PM on May 24.  We hope to see all the parents there.

DNA Lab Field Trip (May 26th)

The Middle School will be going to Cold Springs for our final field trip of the year.  We are ending Science this year with a study on Genetics and this field trip will be the culmination of all that we have learned.

Literature Exhibitions (June 10)

Students have been working hard with Miss Rupke on this final exhibition.  They are required to compare two books on various comprehensive levels.  Please take note on what day the exhibition will be on and try and attend if possible.
